Mireille Baumoel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology, Behavior and Evolution from the University of California, San Diego. She earned CPDT status in March, 2006, from the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).  Mireille is also a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator.

Mireille moved to the Seattle area from Cleveland, Ohio, where she was one of only a handful of dog trainers in the northeast Ohio area using clickers and reward-based training. Mireille has been teaching dogs professionally since 2004 and has been training dogs for Ahimsa since 2007.

In 2002, Mireille and her husband met Taeya, an extremely shy, fearful German shepherd puppy.  They were totally unprepared for the change their lives would take.  Their puppy was petrified of strangers and life in general, and Mireille was desperate for a way to help her dog overcome her fears. A clicker-training class was recommended to them, and Mireille’s foray into dog training began. The beginning puppy class led to more classes and a lifetime of training to help Taeya overcome her fears.

Taeya has come a long way over the years, and Mireille has developed a special interest in fearful and aggressive dogs and a firm belief in the benefit of positive methods in helping these dogs overcome their behavioral issues.  Mireille offers private sessions for individuals, couples, and families with children through Speak Dog Training Company in Kirkland.

Mireille lives in Kirkland with her husband, their young son, and of course, Taeya.  If you are in class at Ahimsa Dog Training with Mireille and would like to contact her, you can email her at mireille@doggiezen.com.
