We have two terrier-only dog training classes, for terriers under 30 pounds (at adult weight). Both classes cover similar material to our Basic Manners and Better Manners classes, but discuss terrier-specific training issues. These classes primarily take place in Burien, rather than Seattle. Our terrier training class is taught by Jennifer Schneider, CPDT. Jennifer has terriers of her own and has been training professionally since 1997.
Terrier-rific Basic Manners. (for small breed terriers - less than 30 lbs at adulthood - 5 months and older. 5-10 month old dogs should consider Puppy Catch-Up.)
This intro dog training class was designed specifically for small breed
terriers (and terrier mixes) and their people. Yes, a class just for you! This class includes both training and playtime with dogs with similar play
styles.
- Teach basic dog training
skills (sit, stay, relax on a bed, wait at doorways, leave it, loose leash
walking, and come).
- Motivate your terrier to willingly follow household rules.
- Learn positive solutions to common terrier problems
(barking, stealing, potty training, "stubbornness", resistance to handling,
and more).
- Teach your dog to greet people and dogs in a polite manner.
- Learn how to keep your terrier focused on you, even in distracting
situations.
- Learn fun games you can play with your terrier to keep
them busy and entertained.
Your first Manners class at Ahimsa includes a clicker and a FREE dog walking harness, which you pick up at Orientation ($25 value, limit 1 per dog).
Please note: 'Scrappy' dogs are allowed in the class (these are terriers, after all!), but if your dog has injured another dog, versus just occasionally growling, snarling, or barking to settle an argument, the Growly Dog class, aimed to work on dog aggression, is more appropriate.

Terrier-rific Better Manners Class. (Prerequisite: Terrier-rific Manners, Dog Manners 1 or Puppy Training & Socialization. For small breed terriers & terrier mixes -
less than 30 lbs at adulthood - 5 months and older)
Learn
more exercises designed to teach your dog to greet people and other dogs in
a polite manner (without jumping or lunging), teach your dog to walk on a
loose leash in every environment, to come to you off leash, to do an
emergency down from a distance, to stay even while you are out of sight, and
to go lie down on a bed or blanket. Plus, learn how to use toys and life
events to motivate your terrier to have real life manners. Includes more
off leash play with other small terriers. [Schedule & Registration] |
