Wallflower Class for Shy or Fearful Dogs

Is your dog a Fraidy Dog? A Cautious Canine? This four-week class is for dogs who are fearful or shy around people, dogs, or other scary things like trash cans in the street. Your dog doesn't have to be a true "Nervous Nellie" to qualify, even one fear is enough to work on!

What does fear in dogs look like? A fearful dog might cower, tremble, look away, or otherwise try to pretend like they do not exist when people try to pet them or dogs try to play. A fearful dog might run under the sofa when people come to visit. Your fearful dog may anxiously run for cover when thunder starts or fireworks explode.

For the Wallflower Class, your dog should be fearful of at least one thing (people, dogs, noises, etc.) and have no history of aggression (snarling, snapping, biting). Some barking from your fearful dog is acceptable, and is usually manageable, but if it makes other shy dogs anxious, you may have to attend without your dog.

In the Wallflower Dogs class, you will meet people who are dealing with their dog's fear, too! We will cover some basic dog training skills, teach you how to read fear in your dog's body language, and give you some fear-reduction techniques to teach your shy or fearful dog that the world is not so scary, after all!
