Fluency Field Trip for Dogs

(pre-requisite: Advanced Puppy, Better Manners, Dog Manners 3, or permission)

This is an advanced clicker training class for people and dogs in Seattle that want to take their dog training to the next level. Fluent dog behaviors are fast, accurate, and reliable. Many people are happy with "fairly fluent" behaviors, meaning the dog listens most of the time and does the sit, down, stay, etc. with reasonable accuracy.

The goal of this dog training class is to teach you to train the final steps - how to transform a trained dog into a truly reliable dog. In each week, we will talk about a different aspect of fluency, as we take our dogs into the "real world" in Seattle: precision, latency, speed, distance, distraction, and duration. Class locations vary - University Village in Seattle, Green Lake park, Ballard (parks & trails near our training center), etc.

We will assume you know how to train your dog various behaviors using clicker training, and that your dog knows them fairly well. We will help you improve your dog's reliability and accuracy with those behaviors, no matter what life throws at them. Specific behaviors that will be addressed: sit/stay, heel, wait (stop in your tracks), and come. But you can apply these principles (and your time in class) to any behavior that you'd like your dog to perfect, like tricks, down, agility moves, etc.
