Growly Dog Class - Aggression Training & Management

Ahimsa Dog Training SeattleGrowly Dog

Is your dog a Feisty Fido? This class is for dogs in the Seattle area who, for whatever reason, aggressively growl, bark, or lunge aggressively at other dogs. Whether your dog is being fearful or angry, this six-week class for aggression at our facility in Seattle will help you manage and train your dog.  If your dog barks but is friendly, you might consider the Barky Dog class.

In the first training session of Growly Dogs, we will meet without dogs to discuss techniques for modifying and managing your dog's aggressive behavior.  For the other weeks, one student dog comes to each session.  As a class, we will discuss the dog's individual aggression/fear problem and do behavior modification activities with the dog du Jour using volunteer dogs and/or faux dogs.

In the Growly Dog class, you will be able to touch base with people who are dealing with the same sort of dog issues you are.  You will get techniques for minimizing/alleviating your dog's aggression and improving the quality of life for your dog-human family, including how to safely introduce your reactive dog to other dogs.  You will learn skills for teaching your dog to pay attention to you, even when there is another dog present. Includes a free copy of "Feisty Fido, Help for the Leash Aggressive Dog," by Patricia McConnell, Ph.D.

Growly Dog Training Class Limit: 5 dogs.

Growly Dog 2 - Practice Makes Perfect!!

For students who have completed Growly Dog at Ahimsa Dog Training in Seattle or a private session with Kathy Sdao for aggression, we now have a practice class. These are single-session, 45-minute classes where we practice being polite to one another at an appropriate distance.  We will use Counter-conditioning / Desensitization and CAT, depending on which method you prefer.

Each Growly Dog 2 session will be for dogs with certain triggers. The class session will specify "Dogs" or "People" as the trigger du jour.  Extra adults are always welcome, but when "People" is the listed trigger, please bring an extra person, if you can, who will be the decoy for another person's dog. We'll be working at safe distances, and any decoy has the right/responsibility to tell me if they don't feel safe with a particular set-up.

Please read the class instructions before your session.  The most important point to remember is that you'll leave your dog in the car for just a few minutes, while we get set up.  Safety first!

Want free practice? If your dog is "almost normal" we can use you as a volunteer in Growly Dog class. Contact Grisha.

If you have not taken Growly Dog class at Ahimsa in Seattle and would like to join our practice sessions anyway, please contact Grisha at 206-364-4072 or email info@doggiezen.com to get permission.

Growly Dog 2 Training Class Limit: 4 dogs.
